Ricki Lake Posts Transformation Photos After Hair Loss Treatment
Ricki Lake is showcasing her new hairstyle. The 53-year-old actress and former television personality posted a comparison of pictures of her hair from December 2019 and January 2021 on Instagram on Wednesday. Lake commended the hair care company Harklinikken in the post for her “dramatic” hair improvement.

With posts on Facebook and Instagram in January 2020, Lake first told her followers that she was losing her hair. She declared that she was “finally ready to divulge my secret” at that moment.
She wrote, among other things, “It has been crippling, embarrassing, unpleasant, scary, miserable, lonely, all the things.” “I have even experienced suicide thoughts a few times because of it. Almost no one in my life was aware of the extent of the trauma and severe anguish I was going through.” The celebrity added, “I am not alone in this and my purpose is to help others while at the same time unshackle myself from this quiet hell I have been living in,” when asked why she was telling her tale to those who were experiencing hair loss.

Lake explained that her “previously healthy virgin hair” was damaged as a result of having to triple-process and tease it every two weeks while filming Tracy Turnblad in the original 1988 Hairspray. She claimed that her hair problems started soon after.
Since then, she has gone through multiple episodes of excessive shedding (also known as telogen effluvium) throughout her adult life as a result of various circumstances such significant weight changes, hormonal changes, and stress.
In addition, Lake said that she had tried every hair-related remedy under the sun, including Rogaine, prescription drugs, topical meds, Propecia, steroid injections, and PRP therapy, which involves injecting your own plasma into the scalp to encourage hair growth.

A year after her Instagram post, Lake revealed to PEOPLE that she “won and lost” over whether or not to share her experience with hair loss since it seemed like “such a humiliating thing.”
In reference to shaving her head and disclosing the truth about her hair, Lake said, “I was frightened of coming out.” “Because, as far as I knew, no woman had ever publicly discussed female baldness.”
